Fisherman's wharf is home to excellent seafood restaurants where you can sample the local dish of clam chowder served in a sourdough bread 'bowl' before heading across the Golden Gate Bridge by bike to catch great views of the sunset across the bay and the city skyline. A visit to the infamous Alcatraz island is well-worth a visit to see where the notorious Al Capone was once an inmate and hear about the history of the prison and life on the island on a fascinating self-guided tour (tip: book well in advance of your visit).
Once back on land, you can explore the city at leisure by foot or maybe on an e-bike or scooter which you can rent via a phone app along many of the city's streets.
